Trustees in Action

May has been a busy and brilliant month for High Tide Foundation’s Career Taster programmes, with young people across the Tees Valley stepping out of the classroom and into the world of work. We were delighted to welcome two of our trustees who joined students on their career exploration journeys.

Programmes

Paula McMahon of Sir Robert McAlpine led a fantastic session for students exploring engineering and construction pathways, bringing energy, insight and expertise to an experience that provided a real understanding of what a career in the sector could look like. By sharing her own experiences and industry knowledge, Paula helped students gain valuable insight into the opportunities available within construction and engineering.

Meanwhile, trustee Michael Shakesheff joined a group of students visiting Teesside Hospice as part of their Health and Social Care Career Taster Week. The visit focused on the wide range of careers available within the charitable sector and highlighted the vital role organisations like Teesside Hospice play within our communities. For many students, it was a powerful introduction to the meaningful and rewarding careers that exist beyond traditional healthcare settings.

Trustees play a vital role in the success of High Tide Foundation. While much of their contribution takes place behind the scenes through governance, guidance and strategic support, it has been wonderful to see trustees engaging directly with young people and employer partners through our programmes.

A huge thank you to Paula and Michael for giving their time and helping inspire the next generation as they begin exploring their future career pathways.
